Hello blog dweller,
My name is Nini and I am a part of the graduating class of 2016. My feelings are a combination of two emotions on the opposite ends of the spectrum: ecstatic and somber. I am ecstatic because I cannot wait to be relieved of what seems to be the never ending stress of high school, especially as an IB student (senior year is great). Furthermore, I am filled with joy because I cannot wait to begin a new chapter of my life, which includes gaining new experiences and meeting new people. On the other hand, I do feel that graduating high school is a bit bittersweet. I have to admit that it does make me feel a little sad thinking about the end to a long chapter of my life. As high school ends, I face with the possibility of losing connections with some of the people I have made in high school, learning from future mistakes and becoming wiser (maybe), and essentially learning how to become an adult and dealing with the obstacles of life provided before me.
For a long time, the plan after high school was to go directly to college. I have learned that things do not always go as planned.
I am happy to say that I am taking a gap year, a little detour before I go to college. I am one of the 50 CIEE Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholarship finalists for the year of 2016-2017 and I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED. I will be blogging here and video blogging on YouTube about my experiences as a CBYX finalist throughout the year, in addition to my other travel and life “adventures”.
In the following weeks, after my IB exams (I have a total of five more), I have plans to post some information about CBYX before being a finalist and other interesting things relating to CBYX before actually going to Germany.
As this post comes to an end, I realize that I will be embarking on my journey as an exchange student immersing herself in another culture in 88 days! It still does not feel real.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this post, it truly means a lot.
Have a great day,
