What is CBYX?



CBYX stands for Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange and it is student youth exchange program sponsored by the US Congress and German Bundestag. About 250-280 students are awarded the scholarship each year to represent their country as a student ambassador. The scholarship is opened to all high school students in the U.S. between the ages 15-18 with a GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

There are several organizations in the U.S. that administers the high school program.

  • Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) – Southeastern United States
  • American Scandinavian Student Exchange (ASSE) – Northwestern United States, Alaska and Hawaii
  • AFS Intercultural Programs (AFS) – Northeastern United States
  • Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG) – Southwestern United States
  • Youth For Understanding (YFU USA)– Midwestern United States

The scholarship covers many things such as the plane ticket to and from Germany.
